El Camino de la Lengua

El Camino de la Lengua is an 11 day programme that focusses on the great historic, linguistic and cultural heritage of central Spain. You will discover central Spain's most important heritage by following the evolution of the Castilian language on its historic voyage through time. You will start your adventure in 'the 11th century crib of the Castilian language' and will follow the language on an unforgettable quest of becoming one the most important in the world.

Our programme follows the official route of the Castilian language which includes the places that historically have had most influence on the Castilian language. The places on the route are: San Millán de la Cogolla (La Rioja), Santo Domingo de Silos (Burgos), Valladolid, Salamanca, Ávila and Alcalá de Henares (Madrid). These truly amazing villages and cities invite you to experience the charm of a history and a language which have evolved in parallel.

To complete the programme we furthermore include the more than 2.000 year old city of Segovia, the incredibly well preserved medieval city of Cáceres and one of Europe's most attractive capitals: Madrid. The result is a unique voyage full of contrasts that includes visits to 6 UNESCO world heritage sites, which will show you the best of the regions Castilla Leon, Extremadura and the capital Madrid.

On your 2.000 km discovery voyages you will wander through incredibly picturesque villages, see unforgettable landscapes, hear intriguing stories, feel at home in bustling cities, taste some of the country's best gastronomy and enjoy real Spanish life.
